Maternal Health Programm

Healthy Mothers, Thriving Families. Ensuring safe pregnancies, mental wellness, and a strong start for every newborn

Moving Beyond Relief Toward Resilience

We believe that healthy mothers create healthy families. Launched to bridge critical healthcare gaps in Uganda, our Maternal Health Program provides expectant and new mothers with essential medical support and antenatal care.

However, physical medical aid alone cannot solve the complexities of early parenthood. By combining clinical oversight with professional psychological support and active fatherhood engagement, we address the root causes of maternal depression and infant neglect, transforming a financial safety net into a sustainable foundation for resilient families.

Our Integrated Care Framework

1. Clinical & Medical Care

Providing mothers with regular antenatal and postnatal check-ups, coverage of essential clinical costs, and direct linkages to partner health facilities for safe hospital deliveries. Every mother receives dedicated delivery kits and baby supplies.

2. Providing Mental Healthcare

Professional monthly group therapy sessions led by a licensed psychologist focusing on trauma processing, the transition to motherhood, and Postpartum Depression (PPD) screening to safeguard emotional well-being.

3. Nutrition & Milestone Tracking

Promoting maternal nutrition and breastfeeding best practices. Through our monthly „Mother-Baby Circles,“ young parents interact, share experiences, and track their infants‘ developmental milestones through peer support.

4. Fatherhood Engagement

Breaking generational cycles by actively involving fathers. Quarterly „Men’s Workshops“ redefine the father’s role in maternal recovery, infant nutrition, and household cooperation, creating a stable home environment.

Home Outreach Visits

Regular home visits conducted by Ewaka staff to perform home safety assessments, monitor infant growth, and ensure continuous family well-being outside the clinic. Participants also enjoy open access to private, one-on-one psychological counseling whenever crisis intervention is required.

Community Health Camps

Organizing annual themed medical outreach camps in collaboration with local hospitals and healthcare organizations. Partnering with initiatives like the Girls Menarche Initiative (GMI), we provide free gynecological screenings, reproductive health consultations, and referrals for underserved communities
